About

"I picked Sarah's picture of Trebawith, Cornwall as our cover image for Coast Magazine as I felt she'd really captured the beauty that can be found at the coast around this time of year. The stormy greys and blacks are made breath taking by the gloriously golden light spilling over the sea and beach from a break in the clouds." Joe McIntyre

Sarah's passion for photography started through her father, a keen amateur photographer. Photography was also a large part of her graphic design degree at Ravensbourne College of Art. She is now a freelance graphic designer and it is alongside this that she also pursues her photography and fine art interests.

The light, the land

The key factor and at the heart of Sarah’s work is the marriage of light on land. She enjoys capturing the moment when light transforms the landscape, revealing cloudscapes, atmosphere and textures. She likes to explore the influence and effect of weather on landscape, both locally where she lives in Edenbridge, Kent and when travelling.

Activities

Her work is held in private collections and Sarah has exhibited in central London at The Mall Galleries, OXO Gallery and throughout the south east England.

In 2009 she won the Kent Wildlife Trust Photographer of the Year award and her work has also appeared on the front cover of Coast Magazine and also in BBC Countryfile magazine, Surrey Life, TGO - The Great Outdoors and various other publications and books.

Sarah has collaborated with many other varied and interesting clients including The Discovery Channel and she was commissioned by Leeds Castle to take pictures of the castle and grounds over the course of a year, capturing the seasons and weather - the project was entitled ‘One Year in 900’.

She is one the founders of the Eden Valley Artists (EVA) - a group that has grown to 30 contemporary artists that organise network gatherings, community art events, art and craft fairs and exhibitions.

Sarah is also a member of Parhelion Group.

Sarah’s 15 minutes of fame came when she took part in a programme on BBC Radio Kent when she was called upon to discuss classic art and design as part of the BBC’s “The Culture Show”.

Sarah lives in the small rural town of Edenbridge, Kent with her sound designer husband Martin and Maine Coon cats.

Please get in contact if you would like to discuss her work further, or have a commission in mind.
